How do I choose which photo to use for wood slices?
If you are choosing any round(ish) wood slice from Wee to Mahoosive, the corners and edges of your photograph will be cropped. Ideally, the focal point of the picture should have a lot of space around it. If you are buying a slice with twine to hang it, please bear in mind the top of the picture will have a hole made in it, not ideal if it’s someones head.

Can you print any photos without cropping the edges?
Yes. I have a range of lasercut plywood squares and rectangles as well as circles and Christmas baubles. Squares can be printed for wall display and as coasters. Prints with corners work better for selfies, close-ups, and group shots.

How do I get photos to you?
You should be asked to upload a photo when you place your order. If there are any issues with this, have multiple photos or would simply prefer to, please email your photos direct to littlememoryshop@hotmail.com

What format of photo do you need?
Images saved as jpegs and png are best. The larger the file is saved the better as small images are more likely to blur.

Can you use old photographs?
Yes. If it is scanned to a good enough quality I can try to reproduce it. Unfortunately, I cannot use real photographs, only digital ones will work.

Can you do black and white prints?
Yes. I can print mono or colour although colour is accepted by the wood better. Photos taken at night or shadows on faces will not print very clearly.

Do you alter photographs?
I will occasionally brighten or sharpen photographs so they print better.

Will the finished piece look just like the photo?
While the image will be the same, the printing process can sometimes change the colours every so slightly. The rustic charm and wee imperfections on a finished piece are an effect of the hands-on printing technique. If there are huge markings over a face so it ruins the piece I will reprint for you.

Are all wood slices identical in size?
Due to the nature of wood the natural slices aren’t perfect circles or a specific fixed size. Plywood pieces are lasercut with precision and all an exact size.

Each piece takes around a week to create. If you need it sooner please let me know and I’ll see what I can do. I use Royal Mail and will let you know when your order is on the way. If you are local to Edinburgh we may be able to hand deliver.

Can I return items?
As all custom items are made with personal photographs and could not be resold I’m afraid returns are not permitted. I take great pride in the printing and finishing of every piece

How do I look after my wood art?
To keep your slice in the best condition please keep it out of direct sunlight, like any print, this will make it fade. Avoid getting water on your slice. If you need to dust or clean it please use a dry cloth.

If you have any further questions which aren’t covered here or would like advice about a particular photo, please get in touch.
